Moveo Training Programme
The Moveo 24-25 courses offer a wide range of training in Physical Theatre and Corporeal Mime. Courses designed to explore, discover and improve the movement techniques, physical performance and corporal expression. The programmes are designed for both beginners and professionals looking to deepen their artistic practice in a creative and collaborative environment.
WHAT IS MOVEO?
At Moveo, we are committed to performing arts and physical theatre as an investigation of questions and a bringing into play of our own body.
It is not about giving fixed answers, but about opening new paths, sharing in the research and bringing together poetry, humor and irony. It is about believing in and celebrating the human body as a vector of communication.
All our activities turn around the arts of movement, especially the evolution and investigation of physical theatre. We have been dedicated to training and creation since 2005, through a stable company and a space where we receive artists in residence and offer regular courses as well as workshops and a variety of activities around expressive movement.
DRAMATIC CORPOREAL MIME
The origin of our work lies in the dramatic corporal mime of Etienne Decroux and the practical investigation of the principles founding this discipline. Moveo’s artistic journey also includes the encounter and dialogue with other disciplines in order to open up and develop new forms of acting and performances based on the body.
There are plenty of places around the world that teach Decroux’s technique as a complement to other corporeal or physical disciplines. In Spain, however, Moveo is the only one that offers such specialized and intensive training based on this work.

What is a theatre school, and what is its purpose? What are the necessary conditions for a drama school to be useful in training performing arts professionals? What do we want to convey and enhance pedagogically, artistically, and socially? These are the questions that always come to mind when I think about the concept of a theatre school. And, probably, these are the questions that should be asked not only by those who wish to found one but also by the students and teachers who are part of it.
This year, we welcome Wong Chun Him (Bosco), Pau Garcia and Laia Campamà, who, after completing Moveo’s professional training and a year of teaching practice, have joined Moveo as teachers to further enrich our educational offer and bring new energy and ideas to Moveo.
Corporeal Mime, created by Étienne Decroux in the 20th century and developed by three generations of researchers and performers since then, offers a profound approach to physical theatre that goes beyond conventional acting methods. This discipline has a strong emphasis on articulation and control of the body to convey emotions and complex narratives. For actors, working with Corporeal Mime for acting training has numerous benefits that enhance their performance skills, presence and expressiveness on stage.
Next year we will celebrate 20 years of the Diploma Course in Physical theatre and Corporeal Mime. During these two decades, we have seen this program grow and become a reference in the world of physical theatre, providing our students with the tools necessary to become independent and versatile artists, as well as allowing to create a community of artists, a network of performers and creators that continues to relate to the Centre.
If you are interested in physical theatre, want to improve your skills in movement and acting or simply explore a different way of approaching theatre and movement, our International Summer Course in Barcelona is for you. The workshop runs from 8-19 July 2024, and offers an immersive experience in corporal mime and physical theatre suitable for participants of all levels.
Last month, the Moveo team travelled to Tàrrega to carry out a series of special workshops called ‘Gesture and relations’. These workshops are aimed at children and young people of various ages, from primary to secondary school, with the aim of bringing them closer to movement and the tools of the performing arts.
