Do you feel that the body is the main driving force behind theatrical creation? Are you looking for your own unique language that puts movement at the service of drama and imagination? If the answer is yes, we have good news: enrollment is now open for the Moveo Physical Theatre Diploma Programme in Barcelona!

This year, we’re updating our programme with a new feature designed to make our courses more accessible. We know that the performing arts sector requires juggling projects, jobs, rehearsals, and travel. That’s why we’ve taken an organizational step to adapt to that reality.

New: more accessible training through 12 weeks blocks

Historically, this diploma programme required continuous commitment that didn’t always fit easily into today’s work and life schedules. To address this, we’ve restructured the programme to make it more flexible, now allowing it to be completed in quarterly blocks while still offering the option of an annual programme

What does this mean in practical terms for Moveo’s diploma programme in physical theatre?

Better work-life balance: If you can’t commit to the full annual schedule starting in October, you now have the option to enroll on a modular basis to balance your studies with other projects.
Meaningful structure: Each quarterly block has been designed by our teaching team to function as a self-contained learning unit within the student’s overall journey.
Learn at your own pace: You’ll be able to gradually acquire the technical foundations without losing the school’s cohesion, making the learning cycle much better suited to your circumstances.

Our Technical Foundation: Dramatic Corporeal Mime

At Moveo, our teaching methodology is based on a very specific and internationally recognized technical foundation: Dramatic corporeal Mime, developed by Étienne Decroux. Far from classical pantomime, it is a performance technique focused on putting the body at the service of profound expression.

In our classes, you’ll learn to articulate movement and to play with weight, dynamics, resistance, and rhythm. The goal is for your stage movement to faithfully reflect the forces at play in any theatrical situation: a state of mind, an internal conflict, or a clash of powers.

The curriculum for the Diploma programme is interdisciplinary and incorporates complementary subjects such as:

Specific physical training to build strength and agility.
Contemporary and contact dance to develop physical awareness.
Specific vocal training so that the voice and stage presence arise from the same physical foundation.

The Moveo Environment: A creative centre and home of the Cia Moveo

Studying here means sharing space with an active creative center. In addition to being a school, we serve as the base of operations for Cía Moveo, our professional physical theatre company, which has been touring and creating acclaimed shows for years. As a student, you’ll experience this theatrical reality up close.

In addition, the Moveo Center regularly hosts artistic residencies. You’ll share facilities with companies from across Europe who are researching and rehearsing their own projects. This environment fosters the exchange of ideas and the building of professional networks from your very first day of class.

From the Classroom to the Professional Stage

The core curriculum consists of a two-year diploma programme in physical theatre at Moveo. For those who wish to take a further step toward becoming professionals, we offer a third year: the specialisation programme.

This third year, designed for graduates, focuses entirely on creating your own stage project. You’ll receive professional guidance from the conception of the idea through to its presentation as a work-in-progress at theatres around the city. It’s a practical tool for learning how to manage your own company and break into the professional circuit.
